📅 Day 1
HANOI - ARRIVAL
+

Arrive in Hanoi, the ancient capital nestled in the heart of northern Vietnam. You’ll be warmly greeted by your English-speaking guide at the airport and comfortably transferred to a centrally located hotel (note: rooms are available from 2:00 p.m.). The rest of the day’s program will be adapted based on your arrival time.

Begin your introduction to the capital with a stroll through its historic and cultural core:

  • Ly Thai To Square – Learn about the founding of Hanoi and its thousand-year-old legacy.

  • Hoan Kiem Lake (Lake of the Restored Sword) – Visit Ngoc Son Temple and admire the tranquil Turtle Islet in the middle of the lake.

  • Old Quarter Exploration – Wander through the famous 36 guild streets, each once dedicated to a specific trade. Don’t miss Ma May Street and a visit to a traditional “tube house,” a unique feature of old Hanoi architecture.

  • French Colonial Quarter – Take a cyclo ride past elegant colonial landmarks like the Opera House, Metropole Hotel, State Bank, and Central Post Office.

End the day with a restful evening at your hotel, marking the start of an unforgettable 5-day journey through Northern Vietnam’s heritage and landscapes.

📅 Day 2
Hanoi - City Tour
+

Spend the day exploring some of Hanoi’s most significant cultural and historical landmarks:

  • Temple of Literature – Vietnam’s first university and a symbol of traditional education, this well-preserved site is a must-see for understanding the country’s scholarly past.

  • Ba Dinh Square – Visit this historic square, home to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the former Indochina Governor’s Palace, and Ho Chi Minh’s modest stilt house.

  • Vietnam Museum of Ethnology – Dive into the country’s cultural diversity through an impressive collection of over 25,000 artifacts representing Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups, offering rich insight into their daily life, rituals, and traditions.

In the evening, experience a traditional water puppet performance, a uniquely Vietnamese art form born from rural life and centuries-old traditions.

Return to your hotel for an overnight stay in Hanoi.

📅 Day 3
Hanoi - Ninh Binh
+

Depart Hanoi for Ninh Binh, a region famous for its dramatic limestone karsts, scenic waterways, and lush rice fields.

Upon arrival in Ninh Xuan, begin your visit with a climb up Mua Mountain, ascending 486 white stone steps for breathtaking panoramic views over the Tam Coc valley.

Continue to Tam Coc for a relaxed bike ride through charming countryside landscapes, flanked by rice paddies and karst formations.

In the afternoon, embark on a sampan boat ride along the Ngo Dong River, drifting through rice fields, towering cliffs, and three natural caves nestled at the foot of limestone peaks.

Return to Hanoi by evening and spend the night at your hotel.

Optional: For a shorter drive, you can choose to stay overnight in Ninh Binh instead of returning to Hanoi. This allows for a more relaxed departure to Halong Bay the next morning with your guide and private car. Contact us if you’d prefer this option.

📅 Day 4
Ninh Binh - Halong bay
+

Depart for Ha Long Bay, one of Vietnam’s most iconic destinations and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, renowned for its otherworldly beauty.

Upon arrival, board a traditional wooden junk, meet the friendly crew, and begin your cruise through Bai Tu Long Bay, the quieter, less touristy part of Halong.

  • Marvel at the bay’s thousands of limestone islets, each with unique shapes like sails, dogs, and roosters.

  • Visit Thien Canh Son Cave, filled with ancient stalactites and stalagmites.

  • Enjoy kayaking or swimming in the serene waters of Cap La (weather permitting).

In the late afternoon, relax on the sun deck, soaking in the panoramic views.

Lunch and dinner are served onboard. After dinner, unwind with optional card games or night squid fishing.

Overnight aboard the junk.

📅 Day 5
Halong - Hanoi - Departure
+

Wake up at dawn to savor a moment of unparalleled beauty: witness the first rays of sun peering over the countless limestone karsts of the bay and partake in a Tai Chi session on the terrace.

Embark on a boat or kayak excursion to explore the fishing village of Vung Vieng, where you may have the chance to interact with local residents.

Enjoy lunch on the junk, then disembark and return to Hanoi. In the evening, transfer to the airport for your departure flight, marking the conclusion of your North Vietnam 5 days itinerary with Kampá Tour. It has been our pleasure to accompany you on this remarkable journey. Safe travels!

Vietnam’s climate varies greatly from north to south due to its geography and length of over 2,000 km. While one region may be rainy or cool, another can be sunny and dry.

In general, the best time to visit Vietnam is between October and April. More specifically:

  • October–November and March–May offer the most pleasant weather with mild temperatures and minimal rainfall.

  • July and August can be hot (30–35°C), but destinations like Halong Bay often enjoy clear skies and sunshine, making it a great time for cruises and photo opportunities.

In the South, even during the rainy season, showers are usually brief and occur in the afternoon, allowing for mostly sunny days.

If you already have fixed travel dates in mind, let us know—our travel advisors can help you choose the best region and experiences for that time of year.

Absolutely. All our trips are private and fully tailor-made, which means you can modify the itinerary to suit your needs and interests. Whether you want to adjust the travel dates, add or remove activities, change accommodation types, or focus on specific regions or experiences, our travel advisors will work closely with you to create the perfect journey.

International credit cards like Visa and Mastercard are commonly accepted at hotels, restaurants, and shops in major cities. Be aware that banks often charge a transaction fee of around 3–4% for card payments.

You can also pay in euros or U.S. dollars at some establishments in large cities, but for smaller purchases (like in markets, taxis, or rural areas), using Vietnamese Dong (VND) is more practical. Currency can be exchanged easily at banks, jewelry shops, or hotels, and VND can also be withdrawn from ATMs throughout the country.

You can settle the balance in one of the following ways:

  • Cash on arrival: We accept US dollars or euros (converted at the current exchange rate on the day of payment). Please ensure the banknotes are clean and not damaged or outdated, as we do not accept defaced bills.

  • Credit card on arrival: Payment can be made at our office using a credit card terminal. A bank fee applies—3% for Visa or Mastercard, and 4% for American Express. Payments are processed in Vietnamese Dong (VND).

  • Bank transfer: If you choose this option, please complete the transfer at least 10 days before your departure so we can confirm receipt before your trip begins.

To confirm your booking, a deposit of 25% of the total tour cost is required. You can choose one of the following payment methods:

  • Bank Transfer: Our banking information is listed in your travel invoice. Please ensure any transfer fees are covered on your end.

  • Credit Card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex): You can pay securely through our bank’s online payment platform. Note that this method includes travel insurance benefits depending on your card provider (e.g., cancellation, medical, or repatriation insurance). However, additional bank fees apply:
    • 3% surcharge for Visa or Mastercard
    • 4% surcharge for American Express
All payments are processed in Vietnamese Dong (VND).

The remaining balance can be paid prior to your trip or upon arrival, as previously detailed.
