You’ll be warmly greeted by your English-speaking guide at the airport and comfortably transferred to a centrally located hotel (note: rooms are available from 2:00 p.m.). The rest of the day’s program will be adapted based on your arrival time.

Begin your introduction to the capital with a stroll through its historic and cultural core:

• Ly Thai To Square – Learn about the founding of Hanoi and its thousand-year-old legacy.

• Hoan Kiem Lake (Lake of the Restored Sword) – Visit Ngoc Son Temple and admire the tranquil Turtle Islet in the middle of the lake.

• Old Quarter Exploration – Wander through the famous 36 guild streets, each once dedicated to a specific trade. Don’t miss Ma May Street and a visit to a traditional “tube house,” a unique feature of old Hanoi architecture.

• French Colonial Quarter – Take a cyclo ride past elegant colonial landmarks like the Opera House, Metropole Hotel, State Bank, and Central Post Office.

End the day with a restful evening at your hotel, marking the start of an unforgettable 5-day journey through Northern Vietnam’s heritage and landscapes.

Spend the day exploring some of Hanoi’s most significant cultural and historical landmarks:

• Temple of Literature – Vietnam’s first university and a symbol of traditional education, this well-preserved site is a must-see for understanding the country’s scholarly past.

• Ba Dinh Square – Visit this historic square, home to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the former Indochina Governor’s Palace, and Ho Chi Minh’s modest stilt house.

• Vietnam Museum of Ethnology – Dive into the country’s cultural diversity through an impressive collection of over 25,000 artifacts representing Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups, offering rich insight into their daily life, rituals, and traditions.

In the evening, experience a traditional water puppet performance, a uniquely Vietnamese art form born from rural life and centuries-old traditions.

Return to your hotel for an overnight stay in Hanoi.

Depart Hanoi for Ninh Binh, a region famous for its dramatic limestone karsts, scenic waterways, and lush rice fields.

Upon arrival in Ninh Xuan, begin your visit with a climb up Mua Mountain, ascending 486 white stone steps for breathtaking panoramic views over the Tam Coc valley.

Continue to Tam Coc for a relaxed bike ride through charming countryside landscapes, flanked by rice paddies and karst formations.

In the afternoon, embark on a sampan boat ride along the Ngo Dong River, drifting through rice fields, towering cliffs, and three natural caves nestled at the foot of limestone peaks.

Return to Hanoi by evening and spend the night at your hotel.

Optional: For a shorter drive, you can choose to stay overnight in Ninh Binh instead of returning to Hanoi. This allows for a more relaxed departure to Halong Bay the next morning with your guide and private car. Contact us if you’d prefer this option.

Depart for Ha Long Bay, one of Vietnam’s most iconic destinations and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, renowned for its otherworldly beauty.

Upon arrival, board a traditional wooden junk, meet the friendly crew, and begin your cruise through Bai Tu Long Bay, the quieter, less touristy part of Halong.

• Marvel at the bay’s thousands of limestone islets, each with unique shapes like sails, dogs, and roosters.

• Visit Thien Canh Son Cave, filled with ancient stalactites and stalagmites.

• Enjoy kayaking or swimming in the serene waters of Cap La (weather permitting).
